a) Mixing in – All players should change courts & partners and mix with all ages, genders and abilities of player. Please do not play with the same players all evening, take care to include new players.
b) The first serve in a game is to be decided by random means e.g., toss up the shuttle, spin a racquet, toss a coin, etc. Historically this club has tossed up the shuttle, whoever the cork is “pointing” at has first serve.
c) WInner gets the first service in the next game when you are playing the best of 2 or 3 games.
d) Prioritising doubles games. We often have more players than there are court spaces. To keep people playing as much as possible doubles games will be prioritised over singles games, particularly if many players are present, and members are sitting off waiting to play.
· If a singles game has reached a score of less than 7 and others wish to play doubles, the singles players must STOP and play a doubles game.
· If a singles game has reached a score of 7 or more, and others wish to play doubles, the singles players may FINISH the game.
e) After losing a point all players should pick the shuttlecock up and give it to the server or hit it back to the new server taking the opportunity to practice a shot/serve. Abusing the shuttlecock by swiping on the floor or hitting the feather end destroys it. Feather shuttlecocks are one of the club's largest expenses.
f) Children/teenagers are to be dropped off and picked up from within the hall. We cannot be responsible for you if we cannot see you waiting outside for your parents in the dark/alone.
